PAST SINS
Carl O. Cooper
The sins of the past, although forgiven,
Are fences and scars
On our journey to heaven.
Do not allow sin to hold any fame.
But to hide in a closet
In repentance and shame.
For satan will test you and tempt you with pride.
By recalling the sins
Of that old life that died.
For the new life you live should be seen and esteemed,
And your friends and your brothers
Should know you’re redeemed.
Brothers, don’t bring up your old sins even to teach others a point.
Don’t mention them
Don’t use yourself as a teaching example.
